Joint Staff Training Event, “Competences of Tutors and Mentors in Mobility Projects”, 6th-10th March 2017, Lisbon Portugal

The first Joint Staff Training event, as part of the Sharing Good Practices for European Mobility Activities Development (S.P.R.E.A.D) project, was organised by the project partner Euroyouth in Lisbon, Portugal in March 2017 and discussed the “Competences of Tutors and Mentors in Mobility Projects”.

The training was attended by participants from all partner countries and was organised bearing in mind the project objectives to develop and reinforce European networks, increase the capacity of VET organization to operate transnationally, upgrade competences and skills of the staff from the participating organization, promote work-based learning through mobility projects, and develop quality assurance mechanisms in VET.

The topics discussed during this first Training Event included Tutoring, Mentoring, Supervision and Coaching, Communication and Strategies for Follow-up, Incoming and Outgoing Follow-up Strategies and Tools. Presentations were made and interactive sessions were also held during which the trainees participated in group exercises and discussions. The importance of the involvement of all parties in each stage of the process and of open communication between said parties was highlighted.

The competences acquired by the staff members will contribute to a higher level in the management of mobilities and, as a result, to meet better the participants’ needs.
